All branch libraries are currently accepting donations from the public. So if you have any old books, DVDs, or CDs that you want to clear out of your place, now is your chance to get rid of some clutter.

"WARLORD" series

Virgina is the author of 7 picture books in the "Warlord" series. The beautifully illustrated books explore informal lessons in math, geometry and science and are set in ancient China. The books are part of the California Board of Education's recommended reading list for K-12. Pilegard will discuss her trips to China for research while writing the series. Complimentary study guides will be available for teachers. Pilegard will also bring supplies and directions for participants to make a simple abacus. Children are welcomed to attend.

• Tickets to all centers can be purchased at the Carnegie Museum, Taoist Temple, The Clark Center, the Kings Art Center, or the Hanford Visitor Agency.

The Kings County Library's children's summer reading program is now in full swing. Entertainment provided by Randel McGee.

Hanford's Senior Center gets a new wii. Teams are forming now. For more information about the Hanford Senior Center and the new wii please contact the Hanford Senior Center at 585-2531.

Sign ups for the Children's Summer Reading Program going on now. Go to the desk in the Children's Room to sign up. Must be 3 to 12 years of age. Free prizes to all participants.
Adult Summer Reading Program. Check out materials from the library. Sign your name and phone number on the back of the due date reciept. Put reciept in the bag of your choice for a chance to win a gift certificate when the program ends on July 19, 2008.

Teen Reading Program. Ages 13 through 18. Sign up at the desk in the Children's Room and get a free paperback book. For every 100 pages you read, get a slip at the desk. Fill out your name, address and phone number. Put the slip in a green box of your choice. Each box represents a different prize. The more slips you put in a box, the better your chances of winning.

*Price includes transportation, tour fee for herb garden, and lunch at China Garden in Selma. Minimum of 25 people will be needed for this trip.

Bus will leave at 8:00 a.m. from parking lot behind Hanford Branch Library (corner of 9th and Harris Street).
