John Jung
Southern Fried Rice: Life in a Chinese Laundry in the Deep South
John Jung tells the story of a Chinese laundry family living in social and cultural isolation from just before the Great Depression until the early 1950's. Southern Fried Rice illustrates the struggle of an immigrant family learning to adjust to a new country. It also examines how immigrant children face and resolve conflicts related to ethnic identity and cultural clashes.
